The Math Is Simple
LEDs cut up to 80% of the energy use of incandescent and halogen light bulbs, HID and fluorescent fixtures, linear fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lamps. By combining the Trade Association Program rebates with utility incentives, the cost of LED lamps is either covered 100% or reduced to a small enough amount to produce paybacks generally less than 90 days. The cost of LED fixtures is typically covered approximately 70% by the combined rebates with paybacks generally between 12 months and 24 months.
Long Lamp Life
Reduced maintenance cost is the big savings from the huge reduction in staff cost to change burned out light bulbs and the greatly reduced costs to purchase replacement lamps. The LED up to 50,000 hour rated life is up to 4 times longer than compact fluorescent lamps, up to 25 times longer than incandescent and halogen, and up to 5 times longer than HID.
Free of Hazardous Waste
Most conventional fluorescent light bulbs contain a multitude of hazardous materials, such as mercury, which damage the environment. LED lights contain no toxic materials and are very effective at reducing carbons into the environment.
Lighting Turns on at Full Light Levels
LED lights come on at full light level, instead of starting dimly and taking a time period to reach full light level as is the case with CFLs.
Wide Range of Lighting Applications
LED lighting can replace incandescent, halogen, compact fluorescent, HID, and linear fluorescent lighting. In every case, there are major energy and maintenance savings to be realized. The lighting quality is generally significantly improved.
